This Friday, October 31st from 6 PM – 8 PM, join us at the Mall of Abilene for a free, family-friendly Halloween celebration — Mall-O-Ween 2025!
We’ll be set up with adorable adoptable puppies and dogs ready to meet you and find their forever homes. While you’re enjoying the festivities, you can meet some amazing pups who are looking for their perfect match!

It’s that time of year again — our annual Hiking with Homeless Dogs event is coming up, and we can’t wait! This unique event is one of our favorites because it’s fun, active, and helps our adoptable shelter dogs get out and enjoy the fresh air while meeting new friends.

Location: Abilene State Park
Join us for a morning of hiking, tail wags, and puppy cuddles! Walk the trails, give these amazing dogs some exercise, and maybe even find your new best friend along the way.

Get ready to jingle, mingle, and make spirits bright at our Winter Market — a cozy, festive celebration at the Jane & Phil Guitar Pet Adoption & Resource Center!
Join us for a day filled with local vendors, holiday treats, adorable adoptable pets, and cheerful community fun! Shop unique handmade gifts, sip on something warm, and maybe even meet your new furry family member just in time for the holidays.

Petsmart Adoption Event!
It’s the Big Day – National Adoption Week at Petsmart!
Join us Saturday October 25th from 3 PM – 5 PM for our biggest adoption event of the week! We’ll have adorable puppies and dogs ready to meet you and find their forever homes.
All our furry friends are spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines, so all that’s left is for them to bring joy, cuddles, and tail wags into your life!

This fun, family-friendly fundraiser brings together animal lovers and their pups for an afternoon filled with wine tastings, live music, delicious bites from local food trucks, exciting raffles, and our popular Dog Costume Contest.

Grain Theory Block Party Adoption Event!
Join us Saturday, October 4th for one of Abilene’s biggest events of the year, the Grain Theory Oktoberfest Downtown Street Party!
We’ll be there from 5 PM – 7 PM with amazing adoptable dogs from foster homes and the shelter. Come find your new best friend, then stick around to enjoy live music, food trucks, games, vendors, and more!

We’ll have a great group of adoptable dogs ready to meet you and find their forever homes. This is the perfect chance to see these pups outside of the shelter and get to know their true personalities.
Adopt, then shop at PetSmart to grab everything you need for your new best friend.

NCCIL (National Center for Childrens Illustrated Literature) Book Release & Adoption Event!
Family Fun Saturday + Adoption Event at the NCCIL
Join us on Saturday, September 20th, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature (NCCIL) for a morning full of fun, creativity, and cuddles!
The NCCIL will be debuting Sophie Blackall’s newest book, If We Were Dogs, and what better way to celebrate than with a special dog adoption event? Meet some of our amazing adoptable dogs, each one looking for their very own forever family.
Every adoption will include a FREE copy of If We Were Dogs to take home—a perfect start to your new chapter together!
