Community Cat Coordinator
All Kind is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve animal welfare in the city of Abilene
by building a new animal shelter facility, decreasing homeless pet overpopulation through
accessible spay/neuter programs, increasing pet retention through expanded foster programming
and adoption events, and offering greater education and resources through community outreach.

promoting and advocating for the Community Cat Program.
Location: Abilene Animal Shelter, 925 S. 25th St.
Compensation: Full-time salaried position $44K
Full-time benefits include: Health insurance, PTO, life insurance, 401K plan

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND EXPERIENCE
This program involves spaying / neutering, vaccinating, ear-tipping, and returning
community cats brought into the shelter to their home colony location.
Responsible for maintaining a professional and personable attitude with the public.
Promoting, advocating and educating the public on what the Community Cat Program is
and why it is important to our community.
Performs a variety of clerical duties, which includes in-person and telephone contact with
the public; to type forms, and letters; to process documents; and to provide assistance to
the public.
Three (3) years of experience in an animal shelter; wildlife rehabilitation, veterinarian clinic,
or an equivalent position is required.
Two (2) years of experience in office administration or project management, is preferred.
A high school diploma or a GED is required.
A valid Texas driver’s license is required.
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
Provide excellent customer service for citizens in person and over the telephone.
Oversee and manage the Community Cat Program, which includes creating a plan of action,
creating and updating client cases; managing location releases, and TNR groups.
Oversee and manage the Barn Cat Program
Build and manage relationships for enhanced program success.
Responsible for training staff in all aspects of the program.
Educate the public and showcase the program’s success.
Identify and prioritize the needs for CCP Cats; intake and medicate all community cats and
record this in ShelterLuv; identity and implement solutions for colony locations, and
prioritize and manage colony locations.
Coordinate with veterinarian clinics for surgical procedures.
Work with the public on operating a trap loan system, delivering traps and supplies, and
maintaining records.
Manage and recruit program volunteers.
Manage database entry for the program; provide monthly and year-end reports.
Perform other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Business English, spelling, punctuation, and general math.
Office equipment and filing systems and procedures.
Experience with feral cats and trapping cats.
Cat health issues, behavior, handling and care.
Safely trapping cats.
Skill to:
Handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Maintain accurate recordkeeping and produce monthly program reports.
Operate basic office equipment including a computer, copier, multi-line telephone,
label maker, scanner, and two-way radios.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
Provide compassion and empathy for animals and people.
Learn the shelter’s pet management software system.
Use good judgment while working with established guidelines.
Work with, handle and care for cats.
Maintain confidentiality of client information.

Maintain records and files.
Assemble and organize data, and prepare reports.
Interact with the public tactfully and courteously.
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
In accordance with the United Stated Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and the Texas Department of State
Health Services (DSHS), employees are required to not have any previous felony
convictions related to a controlled substance
With or without accommodation, ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl,
twist, and climb.
Withstand exposure to animal noise, odors, cool and warm temperatures.
Ability to view computer monitor screens for extended periods of time during
work hours.
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to work various hours including holidays, weekends, late, early or split shifts
as necessary.
